| AGIO Pizza, Inc. signs first franchisee location
"hand money" agreement
PITTSBURGH, Penna.--(BUSINESS PR)--Mar. 1, 2002--
First API location selected in White Oak Borough/Pittsburgh
In a substantial move to advance its Master Franchising program
in the state, the AGIO Pizza, Inc. has confirmed that it signed
its first acknowledged "hand money" agreement to lease
a site in the White Oak suburb of Greater Pittsburgh.
"The first location is key to launching the
concept that has taken 6-years to develop," said Stan Hanko,
Chairman and CEO of AGIO Pizza, Inc. (www.AGIOPizza.com). "We
are pleased that our innovative Master Franchising system has now
officially stepped off the virtual drawing board into the real business
world. We think this is a significant step toward growing a statewide
market in Pennsylvania, and for AGIO Pizza to launch its product
concept in the highly competitive Pennsylvania [pizza] market."
This first API store (2,140-s.f.) is located in
the Rainbow Village Shopping Center, 1985 Lincoln Way, White Oak,
PA 15131, and was formerly leased to Luciano's, which was quite
successful at this location.
The API action is significant in that it has the
potential to greatly streamline the process for bringing pizza from
being the most popular "slow food"(18-23 minutes of cooking
time) in the "fast food" market to the forefront of being
truly FAST FOOD. API's site selection standards and methods essentially
reduces the site review process from, at times, upward of several
months (by avoiding both costly external equipment procurement requirements
and extensive site-by-site utility analysis) to a targeted 2-to-3-week
process with very significant cost savings.
AGIO Pizza CFO/CMO Russell Scoville said, "We
are going raise the velocity of money to a new level by converting
small chains of existing, barely profitable resturaunts into our
AGIO Pizza restaurant mode. It should create a fistful of money
for our investors and Master Franchisors."
